The Payson Military Prayer Effort

support

The Payson Military Prayer Effort is off the ground, and so far we have collected the names of almost 25 local Active Duty Military which are circulated among Prayer leaders in the area - for the purpose of Daily Prayer.

Being a mother of two active duty military men, I know firsthand about the power of prayer for both me and my boys, and consider it a high honor to lift up all of these young men and women each day in prayer.

Our goal is to collect as many names as possible, and a little information about these men and women that we may prayer intelligently for the needs of them and their families - especially in time of deployment. Our young heroes face many daily challenges all while trying to maintain - for most of them - a somewhat "normal" family life. Financial concerns, adjustment issues, loneliness while deployed, safety - these are just a few of the issues of life worthy our daily prayer. Family members - mom's and dad's, brothers and sisters - all are affected when our young people join the armed services.

If you know of a local Active Duty Military man or woman or are a parent of an Active Duty Military member, you may e-mail me and I will include them in our list which is circulated to the Prayer Leaders of our local churches. And the more people we have praying - the better.

This month, I would like to mention two of these "Heroes" and would encourage you to pray for them.

The Election is Over

balloons

By JR Holiday

Yes, the Payson Town election is over!  The voters have spoken and we have a new council and mayor.

This will make some people happy, others not so happy.  If you are among the unhappy.....it’s over…. learn to live with it!

If you are one of the many who did not vote, don’t complain because you have no right to complain.

Over 55% of registered voters cast a ballot in this election and that is considered high for a local election.

The rest of the story is that there are about 16,000 residents in Payson and just shy of 9,000 registered voters.  Of the nearly 9,000 registered voters, 4943 voted.

That simply means that less than 5,000 people are making decisions that close to 16,000 residents must live with.

Now is the time to wish the newly elected well, thank those who did not make it as well as those leaving office for their service to our town and get on with the business of governing our town.  There should be no special interest group in Payson, just neighbors looking out for neighbors.  That is what has made Payson great and can again.

Gun Refresher Course

gun

By JR Holiday

"Those who hammer their guns into plows, will plow for those who do not."
~ Thomas Jefferson (This is why Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton want gun control so badly!)

FIREARM'S REFRESHER COURSE

1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
3. Colt: The original point and click interface.
4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
6. if guns cause crime, then pencils cause-misspelled words.
7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
8. If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.
9. Those that trade liberty for security have neither.
10. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights Reserved.
11. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.
13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.
15. No guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.
16. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
17. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
18. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.
19. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
20. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.
21. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.
22. Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don't make more.
23. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.
24. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

The Perfect Pillow

pillow

By Deb Schwalm

Pillows are used as the means to melt into peaceful slumber. What is the perfect pillow? A pillow that aligns your back in a natural position is the best. Not too thin, not too thick, not too soft, not too firm -- but just right! We spend about a third of our lives sleeping so this makes the pillow very important to your overall health and especially your back.

So how old is your pillow?
Research shows that pillows that were at least 20 years old were moldy, smelly and stained.  A 2005 medical study of pillows -- found up to 16 species of fungi in a single pillow. Along with your old pillow, you are sleeping with moisture, dead skin, drool, dust mites and fungi. People hold onto their pillows WAY TOO LONG!
A dry steam cleaner can kill fungi. So can putting a pillow in a plastic bag and freezing the pillow, which can also take care of mites. (I don’t know if I'd want to eat anything that had been in the freezer next to it -- or sleep on a pillow with freeze-dried mites.) Some stores now sell dust mite covers for pillows. Alternatively, wool and natural latex pillows are available. Alpaca pillows are among the longest-lasting.
The consequences of an old pillow can be serious with challenges body alignment, allergies and respiratory problems.

Then how long can you keep your pillow?
Research shows the average store pillow lasts about 18 months. If you are folding over your pillow in half and the poor thing just lies there, you have a dead pillow (it’s time to bury it!)
http://www.allergybuyersclub.com/perfect-pillow.html

Why is a pillow such a big deal?
People may use up to two or three pillows under their head, and they end up getting forward head posture because the head is tilted out of alignment with the spine. The body adapts to that position and “remembers” that position, which can lead to a lot of neck tension, shoulder problems, headaches and neck stiffness. Check with your health professional for details.
Avoiding pillows altogether is not a good idea either. You need something to support your neck and head so the spine stays aligned.
As people age, they generally tend to develop forward posture -- a kind of shoulder slumping the problem has become more prominent due to the society’s computer influence. We hunch forward over our keyboards.
Sleep is the time to allow the body rest, rejuvenate and realign. But that requires the “right” pillow. Otherwise, neck and back pain can become a challenge.

So how do you find the right pillow?
It's personal choice. And the choices are many.
Pillows are now available in silk, wool, alpaca, latex, cotton, foam and "memory foam". Some even have built-in headphone outlets. Others use super-cleaned materials for sleepers with asthma and allergies. The most practical advice is to just try it out. It’s a good idea when you’re shopping to spend 15 to 30 minutes with each product and bring someone (pillow picking pal) along to check your body alignment.

Side Sleeper, Belly Sleeper, Back Sleeper – What are you?
The goal is to align the back and head. How you sleep determines a lot and one size does not fit all. Another factor is a person’s size and weight. For side sleepers, the nose-to-navel rule is a good guideline. The nose and the navel should be the same height off the bed. Belly sleepers tend to like the softest pillows, but sleeping on the stomach is bad all around, especially for the neck and body alignment, according to physicians and physical therapists. Side sleepers tend to prefer the firmest support because they have space to fill under the neck. Back sleepers tend to like medium support, experts say. But back sleepers should be aware of the dangers of the head being propped up out of alignment.

So what did you do?
It’s probably a good idea to select a store that specializes in back health as well as consulting a qualified health professional. Spend some time with pillow selection and consult the salesperson and/or your pillow picking pal. Obviously, online shopping would not be the best for selecting a pillow (unless you’ve already tried out a particular brand/size in person beforehand). Then cost becomes a consideration. Good pillows can run anywhere from $75 up to $500, with accessories such as special pillow covers being extra.
Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite!!!

Get GAS Back to $1.30

gas
THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive.  It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton.  If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! It's worth your consideration.  Join the resistance!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!!  Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap.  Me too!  It is currently $3.49 for regular unleaded in my town, Seattle.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace...not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas!  And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How?  Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.  If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.  It's really simple to do!  Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach
millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ...  and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....  THREE HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.  That's all!
